Blogtober Day 3…
Where is the place you get your best ideas, thoughts, or dreams? Where do you talk to the Lord best? I seem to have the best conversations with Christ in the shower or in my car driving. It’s the moments when I don’t have a pen or paper and if I did, I wouldn’t be able to use them anyway. I am learning that sometime God just wants us to listen. We are so busy with the day to day of life that we don’t always have the time to sit down and think let alone listen for the voice of the Lord. I want everything God promised me. There are days where some of those promises seem so far. It’s those moments I must pause and listen. Just take a moment to center myself in what God promised me and allow him the space to pour into those areas that need him the most.
Growing up my best friend’s parents would make us have bible study before we could leave on nearly every occasion. One of those bible studies we discussed the Godhead. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The example pops gave was to look at yourself. You are a friend, a daughter, and a student. You are all those things equally and individually. While I can appreciate that example and I’ve carried that example in my mind for over 20 years now, I’ve wrestled with it until I feel the Lord gave me an additional example. At my core I am a scientist. I think of nearly everything in terms of science.
The chemical structure for water is H2O. Water can be a solid, liquid, or gas (vapor) depending on what you need it to be. No matter what state of matter water is in it will always be H2O. The Godhead is made up of the Father (God) (solid), Son (Jesus) (living water), and Holy Spirit (vapor) (fills us). We need to stand on the promises God the father has given us. He is the foundation of who we are. Jesus the Christ came so that we may be purified through his living water. He quenches our thirst of restlessness, fear and torment. The Holy Spirit dwells (resides) within us. He guides us and helps us to feel the presence of God within us. Each role of God is vital to our being. We need to know where we stand with God. We need to know that His love for us to so genuine that he would sacrifice everything for each of us. Finally, we need to be connected to him daily. We need him to fill us. All these roles are still God aiding us in the form we need him to be.
But, what
about relationship. When you like some one even on a casual level you talk to them.
I’m not co-signing casual encounters. I am using them as a reference to say
even that takes some form of communication. I am not friends with some people because
I didn’t foster that relationship. There are some relationships that didn’t
develop because the other person didn’t reciprocate wanting to have one with
me. When it comes to God, we learn more about what he’s designed us to do and
created us for the more we get to know him. Even if the relationship with God
starts off small and superficially the more you read the bible, pray, and
listen the deep it will grow. I believe eventually I will get married again. I
want to have a dynamic relationship with my husband but that won’t happen if I
don’t tell him about myself. The same goes for him. It will take time and with
God on our side I hope it take a life time and after 50 years I can say I’m
still learning thing about this amazing man that mesmerize me. That is also how
I feel about my relationship with Jesus. I accepted Christ as my savior at 4 or
5. I remember laying on my moms back praying. My relationship with Christ didn’t
gain depth until I went through some painful trials. It was in my brokenness that
I needed the rock of my foundation to remind me who I am in HIM. This
relationship is everything for me and I want it to be my lifelong journey to
learn and grow and know more about my savior. We can’t establish something real
when all we offer is a casual exchange. I’m not saying you have to believe in
Jesus or the Godhead because I do. I pray you grow stronger in your belief
system and deep in your relationship so that you know you are here for a reason.
There is purpose within you and a life searching out purpose is a life lived.
I hope you enjoyed,
and I wish you well on this journey of finding purpose in relationship. May joy
fill you and peace abide within you always.
Love ya
