Blogtober Day 14...

 When was the moment you realized your parents were human? Did you ever have that moment in life? I remember as a kid my mom telling me I could ask her any question because she knows everything. Of course as a child I thought she must be right. There wasn’t a time when she didn’t have the right answer. As I got older my life experiences began to deepen and there were questions that I had that were out of my mothers depth. That was when my mom pointed me in the direction of my Heavenly Father. 

There are times in life when we hold God our Heavenly Father  hostage to the humanness of our earthly parents. Our parents love us and want what’s best for us but they are human. God is not a man that he would lie. God is all knowing. He walks with us and he knew us before we were ever placed in our mothers wombs. We shouldn’t hold the fact that our parents are limited against the creator of the universe that hold all the answers. 

God want us to get to know him. He wants to tell us our purpose and what we are supposed to do with it. He created us for amazing things. Are you in a new place in life? Do you question why you were put on earth? I don’t mean to sound infomercialish but I have these questions. I want to know why I’m here. I want to live my life in the most authentic and fulfilling way possible. I want everything God created for me to have and I want to do all he’s created me to do. So how do I start? For me I started talking to God in prayer. I started reading the Bible and being honest with myself and Jesus. I started asking Christ for the answers that my mother didn’t have. 

What I am learning is God is so much more than the flaws of my past and the limits of my parents. God wants us to freely seek him and trust him and watch what he does with our life. I pray you began to seek the Lord today for your life’s question. Start with the hardest one and keep asking until he answers.

Have you ever had a friend or family member that you felt had so much potential but didn't have the drive? I remember getting to a point in my life where I decided I was no longer dating potential. In physics potential energy has the ability to become kinetic energy but it needs a force to act on it. I'm sure you have all heard the saying, "An object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion until a force acts on it." We so often want to be the force that pushes the people we love into their purpose, great life choices, or a healthy direction. Recently, I am seeing things in such a different way. We reserve the push of "faith" or hopeful belief for people we love, like, or see something in. We rarely offer that belief or push of faith to our frienemy, or to our loved ones whose dreams we don't understand or agree with. But why?  Life doesn't always take the shape of the plans you originally had. Sometimes you don't even see the life you hoped for. But, if you keep on the journey life will take you down paths you never thought would or could be worthy of.  I thought... isn't that the start of every downward spiral? I thought. Sometimes we need to go back a few steps, thoughts, moments to better understand where we are and where we're going. My oldest is chartering his path as a high school freshman. I can only reflect on my high school experience. When I was in high school all I wanted was to lay a foundation that would get me out of my city (New Orleans). I couldn't see past getting out.
