Love can make you do crazy things...
Yesterday was Valentine’s Day. I don’t know if that means anything to you but
if it does, “Happy Belated Valentine’s Day.” It doesn’t mean much to me and not
because I don’t have a “Valentine.” This day has never been a thing for me.
Please don’t get offended if this is your day. I am in no way knocking the day.
I’m not anti-Valentine’s Day. I’m just not into the demand of it all. Love will
forever exist with or without this day in my book. Nevertheless, in this post I’ll tell you about
some of the crazy things that have been blamed on “LOVE.”
When I was in high school, I had the coolest friends. There
were three of us and we’d been friends
since eighth grade. By our sophomore
year in high school most of us had paired up and had boyfriends. I (of course)
refused to date the boys at my school because I called myself not mixing business
with pleasure. Someone please go back,
get that child, and shake her. It’s not about me though. One of my friends
heard that another girl was digging (this means liked for those not up on the
slang) her boyfriend. Let me remind you we are in 10th grade and we
aren’t the most logically young ladies. As for me, in most life events at this stage,
I played two roles: transportation, and cosigner. One of my friends suggested that
we egg this female’s home. I ask, ”Where
will we get the eggs”? All of our parents will notice if a carton of eggs is missing
and my grandma has to make an egg for our dog every morning (I know it’s
strange… it’s a long story). I am then informed that we have an egg donator because
we are about to throw baby chickens all over this girls door. We pick up the
eggs and we proceed to carry out this foolish journey, all in the name of “LOVE.”
Let me tell you what we didn’t do or care about:
1. Whether or not we
were given the correct address;
2. Whether or not the story was relayed to us accurately;
and
3. Why there were so
many eggs at the egg donor’s house.
I am so sorry if you
were egged by three crazy teenage girls sometime in the 90’s. If it’s any
conciliation I was so scared we would get caught that I drove off with one of
my friends’ feet hanging out of the car. Of course my friend could’ve killed me
but we eventually found the humor in the whole event.
“Love will make you do crazy things!” I’ve heard people say
this all of my life. I guarantee you it is the most popular phrase used after
any break up. Believe it or not, love is the furthest this from crazy. Love
does not delight in evil but rejoices in truth. I know we were kids and those
are some of the crazy things kids do when they think they’ve found love. As an
adult I am guilty of some actions of crazy love as well. But love, your love,
should be intentional. It should be long and full of memorable joys that
outweigh the sorrow. Love should never be crazy. Reflect on the beauty of love
today even if you are single like me. If you are single and hoping to mingle
soon remember, if the love that is
presented to you is causing crazy actions run and run fast; and if you are in a
relationship, remember that it may not be a great idea to rally the friends
together and egg someone’s home (I’m not sure about the legality of those actions).
If you think you’ve found the one and you just know that the Lord sent you this
person. How about you rally the troops and ya’ll pray for that thing before
it’s too late!
So… yesterday was Valentine’s Day and I’m single (hoping to
mingle soon). I’ve been crazy and I can tell you I for true have some crazy
friends. However, I have been blessed with some amazing friends that have been
there for me when my life was crumbling to pieces and when I could not
differentiate between crazy love and pure love. Don’t give up on pure, kind,
truthful love because when the time comes you will be transformed. I hope you had
a wonderful Valentine’s Day (if that’s your thing). I hope you enjoy allowing
love to find you and opening yourself up to be found.
-With Love,
Juls*Thank you to my editor Syl D.C. you got me every week and I'm thankful!

Love can make you do crazy things... but by definition Love is not rational!! 😍
