That Time I Started a Blog
It’s 2018 and the “New Year, New Me,” mantra has begun. We
will hear or say this glorious phrase nearly the entire month of January. What
have you decided will be your 2018 mantra? I have determined that I will
pursuit my passions. This year I will not allow the tether of fear to tighten it’s
grip around my neck. I’m not saying fear doesn’t or won’t exist in my life. I’m
saying I refused to be crippled with fear. Fear is keeping us from stepping out
on that dream we have rattling in our every waking thought. If you have ever
said; I wonder what my life would look like if… Then you are battling fear and
you can win. When I was in middle school I wanted to be a cheerleader. I went
to the camp and I was so good that I impressed the coaches at that were there.
It was time to show the judges what we learned and I was not in the first group
that went. I watched these girls get up there and look cat raggedy. I knew I
had it in the bag. The group that went right before me one of the girls just
did horribly. She fell and it was hilarious and I laughed but I thought if she
can fall with her feet on the ground this must be harder than it looks. It was
finally my groups turn and I freeze. That cat raggedy girl’s fall had me shook
and all I thought was don’t fall. Good news is I didn’t fall. Bad news I wasn’t
a cheerleader and I didn’t try out again until high school (I made that team).
What’s my point? Don’t let this year, 2018 go by and you are filled with the
same fear from all those other years. That is why it That Time I start a blog.
I have so much to share that I know will encourage and uplift other that I know
it’s time and if anything my stories are sure to offer you a laugh. I have one
of those lives where my friends have coined the phrase, “A Juls conversation!”
It’s an everyday conversation that I seem to find myself in with strangers that
doesn’t quite make sense. I am usually minding my own business when the
conversation starts. Here is an example, I was in the check out at Sam’s Club
and the lady in front of me says I and I say hi back. She notices I have a baby
and asked how old he was. I guess at the time he was 4 or 5 months and I
respond with that. She then says, “Oh, that’s nice how old does he have to be
before he is 1?” I just look at her for a moment and think surly this grown
woman is not asking me how many months are in a year. My dumb founded look must
have caused her concern because she follows her statement with, “You know like
11 or 12 months?” I try my best to take this conversation seriously and respond
with, “Its just 12 like the 12 in the calendar year.” This is just one
conversation with a stranger. Just wait until I break out the conversations
with my children. I hope you find pleasure in reading about my life. I look
forward to sharing more. Remember make this year the start of a new beginning
of a great journey. Don’t let the fear keep you bound. Make fear bound to watch
you step into greatness.
With love,
Juls
